According to local daily Joghovurd (“People” or “Nation”), there will be 12 replacements in positions held by the ruling elite in the near future.
The newspaper reports that RA Police Chief Alik Sargsyan was made redundant yesterday, and that he will be replaced by RA Deputy Minister of Defense Vladimir Gasparyan. It’s not clear who will then replace Gasparyan; however, the possibility of that position no longer existing is not ruled out.
Joghovurd continues: Chief of General Staff of the RA Armed Forces Yuri Khachaturov will be replaced by RA Deputy Minister of Defense Alik Mirzabekyan. Rumors circulated Monday evening indicate that RA Vice Prime Minister, RA Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan has submitted his resignation; however, Gevorgyan’s press spokesperson Zoya Barseghyan denied these reports.
The newspaper notes that its inside sources assert that today or tomorrow Armen Gevorgyan will be dismissed from his post, while this evening, a Republican Party of Armenia board meeting will take place to discuss Gevorgyan’s possible successor.
