Heritage Party parliamentary faction members don’t believe that Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan (pictured) will resign and pre-term elections will be called, said Heritage Party MP Armen Martirosyan, at a press briefing in the National Assembly, responding to a reporter’s question as to whether the party considers such a scenario likely.
“We tend to speak of more serious subjects,” said Martirosyan, adding that Sargsyan is in complete control of the situation, very easily dismissing high-level officials and not preparing to resign.
Also responding to the question about the president’s possible resignation was Rule of Law (“Orinats Yerkir”) MP Khachik Harutyunyan, who likewise said such a development wasn’t likely, noting that Sargsyan won’t resign because there is no such situation that requires it in the country.
