Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, His Holiness Karekin II; Haji Allahshükür Hummat Pashazade Sheikh ul-Islam and Grand Mufti of the Caucasus; and Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, His Holiness Kirill I issued a statement on Nagorno-Karabakh today, the first day of a two-day meeting of the Presidium of the Inter-religious Council of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) in Yerevan.
In the statement, the religious leaders expressed their commitment to the peaceful resolution of the conflict and urged the conflicting parties to withdraw snipers from the Line of Contact to avoid further casualties.
Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill I, in his remarks, noted that renouncing the use of force should create an atmosphere of morality and promote the establishment of peace and justice.
