Local activist, writer and member of public initiative group “The Army in Reality” Armen Ohanyan, after being picked up by police at his home yesterday and taken in for questioning and subsequently released, was asked to return to the National Security Service (NSS) investigations department at 3 pm on the same day. Speaking to Epress.am, Ohanyan said he was called in as a witness for a case with no connection to him whatsoever.
“They gave names of some people who I don’t know. Only with regard to one of my friends, whose name is in this case, they asked me how I know him and so on. But I’m more angry about the morning affair, that at 7 in the morning, they can occupy someone’s home and without a summons detain them. If they showed me a summons and I understood under what condition I was being called in for questioning, I would call my attorney and I wouldn’t be opposed to going with them,” he said.
He also raised this issue during the examination. In response, he was told that due to the important and immediate nature of the case, police officers gathered all those people who might have a connection with the case in the morning.
The activist was also told that those who were detaining members of the public weren’t from the NSS, but from the police — the NSS gave police officials the names of those people who had to be called in for questioning and the police, as Ohanyan put it, with their special method, roughly carried out these orders.
