Armenia Police Chief to Encourage Citizen ‘Informers’ with Monetary Incentive

RA Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan will soon be sending out an appeal to Republic of Armenia citizens, asking they help  officers, reports local daily Joghovurd. According to the paper, given the fact that people till now have been reluctant to respond to such requests, Gasparyan has decided to lure the population to cooperate by providing a monetary incentive. From now on, anyone who has video footage which clearly shows the date and time and license plate number of a vehicle that has violated the law can present it to the police and receive financial compensation.

“Put another way, Vladimir Gasparyan is growing ‘Lorises’ in Armenian society. As is known, in the Armenia TV program ‘Yere1’ Loris was informing against everyone with the use of his telescope and getting paid for it,” writes Joghovurd.
