People in Armenia incorrectly perceive the process initiated in France of criminalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide, linking it with activities of the Armenian lobby, said Yerevan-based Caucasus Institute Director Alexander Iskandaryan, speaking to journalists in the Armenian capital on Jan. 10.
According to him, this is an “unaided game” by France, which wants to distant Ankara even more from European affairs. The analyst noted that France is not too happy about Turkey’s aspirations to increase its role in the Arab world since it is France that traditionally has its influence in that region.
At the same time, Iskandaryan noted that penalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide has a humanitarian component.
