Azerbaijan must unambiguously support the West in the issue of sanctions against Iran, said Azerbaijan’s Democratic Reforms Party leader Asim Molazade.
“We regret that the Azerbaijani government till now has not expressed its stance in sanctions against Iran and has not supported its allies. In foreign policy, Azerbaijan must prioritize partnership with the US and the EU rather than with the African Union or totalitarian countries like Iran,” the MP said as reported by Baku-based news source 1news.az.
Molazade accused Tehran of supporting Armenia in the Nagorno-Karabakh War, as well as interfering in Azerbaijan’s internal affairs.
Speaking about the consequences of joining the anti-Iran sanctions and Iran’s possible gas and energy blockade to the Nakhchivan exclave, the party leader said, “fraternal Turkey will do its utmost to ensure gas and electricity to the region.”
