Sharmazanov Advises his Georgian Counterpart to Brush Up on his Own History

Deputy Chair of Georgia’s Parliament Fridon Todua’s statement in Baku on Tuesday that “occupied territories will be returned to Georgia and Azerbaijan as they are their lands” is, in fact, far from the truth and absurd, believes Deputy Chair of Armenia’s Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov.

“May I inform Todua that no Armenia official has never made such a tactless statement about a third country’s problems. I would advise the deputy parliamentary speaker to familiarize himself with the historical tradition of his people, the Kartlis Tskhovreba [Georgian Chronicles], where it clearly states who the indigenous peoples of this region are. Recalled are the Armenians and the Georgians, while there is no mention of Azeris in the Kartlis Tskhovreba.

“Perhaps after learning the truth from this textbook, Todua will apologize to his neighboring people,” he said.
