VIDEO: Former Sumgait Residents Talk About their Life in Armenia Today

When election period begins, they come and say this and that… but nothing. I get a monthly pension of 30,000 drams (about $77 USD) and the Department of Social Assistance of Armenia (“Paros” program) at the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Issues cuts it, saying my grandchildren have grown up, said an elderly gentleman by the name of Vova who witnessed the Sumgait pogrom 24 years ago and then fled to Armenia, in conversation with Epress.am.

On the anniversary of the massacre in Soviet Azerbaijan in February 1988, Epress.am asked a few former residents of Sumgait to talk about their life in Armenia today.

Video in Armenian only.
