PHOTOS: Opposition Marches to Myasnikyan Statue to Remember the Dead

After the rally organized by the Armenian National Congress (HAK) in Yerevan’s Liberty Square (adjacent to the Opera building), supporters marched to the statue of revolutionary Bolshevik of Armenian descent Aleksandr Myasnikyan (located across from Yerevan City Hall), where four years ago today, demonstrators protesting results of the presidential election were dispersed by national police and military forces.

Marchers today were chanting “Fight, fight till the end!” (a common HAK slogan), “Serzhik, murderer!” (referring to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan), and “Shame to the criminals of Mar. 1!”

The photos of the 10 citizens who died on Mar. 1–2, 2008, and lit candles were placed near the Myasnikyan statue.

Marchers along with HAK leaders placed flowers and wreaths at the base of the monument.
