Armenia’s First Lady, Unlike Azerbaijan’s, Not Interested in Politics: CIS’ Most Brilliant Women

The First Ladies of Armenia and Azerbaijan are in the top in a list of most brilliant women of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), reports MIR TV.

According to the TV station, Armenia’s First Lady Rita Sargsyan (pictured, right) has little interest in politics. “She is more interested in patronage. Charity successfully combines with her support of culture, as Sargsyan’s career began as a kindergarten music teacher. Armenia’s First Lady organizes concerts, all the proceeds of which she transfers to orphans, the disabled and families with many children.”

In contrast to Mrs. Sargsyan, Azerbaijan’s First Lady, Mehriban Aliyeva, (pictured, left) occupies a prominent place in politics, reports MIR TV. She is a member of parliament, the head of the working group on Azerbaijan-France inter-parliamentary relations, as well as the president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Friends of Azerbaijani Culture Foundation. In addition, she is a Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

Also at the top of the list of CIS women were Ukraine’s former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko, Russian celebrity and TV presenter Kseniya Sobchak, Soviet and Russian singer Alla Pugacheva and others.
