Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) MP Vardan Bostanjyan found out he wasn’t on the party’s list of election candidates only after the list was made public, he told Epress.am today.
Recall, the list of candidates to contest a seat under the system of proportional representation was made public late yesterday evening, following a meeting of the party’s political council. Note, 90 of the 131 seats in the National Assembly are contested under this system of voting for the party, while the remaining seats are elected in single-mandate constituencies.
According to Bostanjyan, his name is not only not in the top 20 spots of the party list, but also not at the end of the list.
Asked why he didn’t make the cut, the lawmaker said he had no idea. “Nothing has been said to me. I found out after the list was published that I’m not in it. So I can’t give any comments.”
BHK press spokesperson Khachik Galstyan also refused to comment on the matter.
“We have publicized our decision on how and with whom to enter the parliamentary election. The list is before you; you’re free to comment,” he said.
