Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan today attended the opening ceremony of the Yerevan Registration and Control Department of the RA Traffic Police, where he became acquainted with the work aimed at improving the department’s activities, the process of vehicle registration and driver’s license issuance, and quality of the services provided to customers. Sargsyan was informed that the Yerevan Registration and Control Department comprises the Registration and Control Departments No.1, No. 2 and No. 3, which joined to make one department. According to the reforms in the police force program, the department, which operates in a newly constructed building and has modern facilities and a vehicle testing ground, will be open to the public starting April 3.
The state leader toured the new building and became acquainted with the vehicle control station works, processes of registration and control of the vehicles, issuance of driver’s licenses, and observed the testing ground.
He was informed that the new, accelerated process for the registration of vehicles and a simplified process of issuing driver’s licenses will cut back the time of the entire process — instead of 1–2 hours currently required, the process will take 30–35 minutes. As a result, lines will be curbed and the quality of the services provided to customers will improve.
Almost 1 billion 400 million AMD in total have been invested into this reforms program with the funds acquired from the RA Police extra-budgetary sources, according to a statement issued by the president’s office.
