Prisoner Sews his Mouth Shut, Insists He’s Innocent

Karen Kungortsev, 22, charged with the murder of Yerevan resident, David Hovakimyan, 15, shut his mouth shut on Sunday in the Vanadzor penitentiary where he is currently in pre-trial detention. Recall, the young prisoner began a hunger strike last week, claiming he was wrongfully accused of the crime. 

Also last week, Kungortsev's mother, Anahit Harutyunyan, told eTV that her son had written a letter to her saying that the RA Police program Hertapah Mas on Armenia TV showed his photo and claimed he admitted his guilt, but that’s not true. According to Kungortsev's mother, her son has been beaten while in police custody.
