Protests Against Pension Reforms Continue in Yerevan

Reacting to the news on Wednesday whereby the Armenian parliament voted down a proposal to postpone new mandatory pension reforms by one year, demonstrators drove around Yerevan today and through loudspeakers informed the public that their salaries would reduce starting on Jan. 1, 2014, when the new law comes into effect.

Demonstrators urge others to join their cause. They say that their numbers will increase from Jan. 1, and if the law will not be amended, they are ready to practice civil disobedience up to boycotting establishments such as petrol stations, stores, and restaurants belonging to members of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia.
