The foundation Shant and Freedom, which already has a board of trustees, has been launched to help political prisoners in Armenia. The foundation's activities will be directed at helping the families of and releasing Shant Harutyunyan (after whom the foundation is named, pictured) and the other political prisoners arrested in November, as well as Karabakh War veteran Volodya Avetisyan. This news was conveyed today by the founder of the foundation, Felix Hayrapetyan, and board of trustees member Mikael Hayrapetyan at a press conference in the capital.
According to Felix Hayrapetyan, the political prisoners have 21 small children, who have been left without care. The foundation also aims to help them. The other planned demonstration is organizing an event on Shant Harutyunyan's birthday.
