Electricity and gas supply has been cut off for a significant portion of Armenia's third-largest city, Vanadzor, for three days, reports local daily Haykakan Zhamanak.
The reason is the powerful explosion that occurred on Feb. 3 on Narekatsi Street, after which half of the city lost its gas supply.
Furthermore, the water pipes in several neighborhoods have frozen.
Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Vanadzor Office President Artur Sakunts, in conversation with the paper's correspondent, said it all began with the suspension of the gas supply, which resulted in residents using electrical power to heat their homes, but the electrical transmitters couldn't withstand the overload and broke down.
