Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is important for the entire region. It might be launched at the end of 2014 or early 2015, said the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey at a joint press conference in Ganja, reports Georgia Online [RU].
According to Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Davutoglu, all three countries have made efforts so that the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars project, which will connect Azerbaijan and Georgia to Europe, be implemented in the near future.
This project also includes the construction of the Kars-Akhalkalaki railway, 68 km of which will be in Turkey and 30 km in the territory of Georgia.
In Georgia, the 183-km stretch of the Akhalkalaki-Marabda-Tbilisi railway will be restored, which will allow the transport of15 tons of cargo per year.
