Tigran Yegoryan, the representative of the legal successor to the victim in the Harsnaqar case, Vahe Avetyan, today introduced a civil suit at the Court of First Instance of Avan and Nor Nork Communities of Yerevan, asking compensation for moral damages from the defendants to the tune of 297 million 51 thousand AMD (about $720,141 USD).
The plaintiff is demanding 5 million AMD (about $12,122) each in compensation from victims Artak Bayadyan and Garik Soghomonyan, and 2 million 500 thousand AMD ($6,061) each from victims Edgar Nikoyan and Arkadi Aghajanyan. The rest of the amount was requested as compensation for Vahe Avetyan's wife and two minor children — 52 million AMD ($126,064) for pecuniary damages and 250 million AMD ($606,075) for moral damages.
In order to meet the demands of the civil lawsuit, Yegoryan asked for a ban on the property and financial assets of the defendants, as well as of Harsnaqar owner and witness in the case Ruben Hayrapetyan.
The defense will express a position on the lawsuit at the next court hearing, on Mar. 12
Recall, military doctor Vahe Avetyan and his friends were beaten inside the Harsnaqar restaurant complex on Jun. 17, 2012. Twelve days later, Avetyan died in hospital. The prosecutor, Armen Davtyan, asked for 13 years' imprisonment for the defendants Garik Margaryan, Arman Khachatryan, Norayr Hayrapetyan, Arman Baghdasaryan, Artur Babloyan, and Davit Adamyan.
According to documents presented in court, the accused worked at Harsnaqar, which belongs to former Republican Party of Armenia MP, Football Federation of Armenia President Ruben Hayrapetyan. At the request of the injured party, Hayrapetyan appeared in court, testifying that he didn't know about what happened in Harsnaqar.
