Ruling Party Blocks Proposal to Establish Ad-Hoc Commission on Nairit Plant

The parliamentary majority, the Republican Party of Armenia, today voted against a proposal by the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF-D) to establish an ad-hoc commission on the issue of Nairit Plant.

Voting for the creation of such a commission were 44 deputies, while 55 voted against, and 1 abstained.

Recall, the ARF-D was proposing to investigate why employees were not receiving their wages, how the company's debts accumulated, the effectiveness of the management and financial and economic activity, and why millions of dram from the plant's budget were paid to the plant's deputy director Ashot Sargsyan, who is the brother of RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.

While this matter was being discussed in parliament, Nairit Plant employees were protesting outside, asking their employer to pay the arrears of their more than one year's wages.
