Employees of kindergartens in the town of Sevan have not received their salaries for November and December 2013. Furthermore, they did not work in January and February, as they were forced to take unpaid leave. This news was conveyed to local daily Hraparak by the town's residents.
The newspaper reports that the reason the kindergarten employees didn't work in the first two months of the year has nothing to do with either the heating or building conditions.
Unlike the city of Hrazdan, where kindergartens are heated by wood stoves and the buildings are in a poor state, in Sevan, all the kindergarten schools have local heating and are renovated. The reason for the unpaid leave is believed to be to save money.
Sevan town mayor Rudik Ghukasyan on March 3 promised to resolve the issue of the unpaid wages within a week; however, till now, the more than 30 employees have not yet received their salaries. They received a new promise: "We will pay the salaries by the end of the month."
