Local daily Chorrord Inqnishkhanutyun reporter Ani Gevorgyan on Tuesday submitted a statement to the Special Investigatory Service of the Republic of Armenia to recognize her as a victim in the incident of February 12 [AM].
"The investigator said my application will be discussed. I was summoned for questioning, which was postponed and in all likelihood will take place on Friday," she told Epress.am.
Recall, on February 12, a group of Armenian National Congress (HAK) activists, as well as HAK board member Areg Gevorgyan, HAK executive secretary Samvel Abrahamyan, and reporters Sargis Gevorgyan and Ani Gevorgyan were detained by police while distributing flyers informing the public of the upcoming rally on March 1. Prior to the arrival of the police, a group of youth had impeded the opposition activists' campaign by seizing their leaflets.
In connection with these events, Ani Gevorgyan reported a crime to the Special Investigatory Service. The police department's internal security service was also instructed to conduct an investigation, which, however, is currently suspended.
"In the criminal case launched with the police I was identified as a witness, whereas in the case launched with the Special Investigatory Service I don't yet have a status. That which I have listed is sufficient ground to have serious doubts of the effectiveness of these investigations," Gevorgyan had told the Epress.am correspondent earlier.
