UTair’s Yerevan-Moscow Flight Twice as Expensive Than 49 Euros Advertised

Tickets for the Moscow-Yerevan route offered by Russian airline company UTair are more expensive than reported in the company's press release issued yesterday. Recall, the company had said that the price of the ticket is 49 EUR, excluding agency fees. However, in response to a call from Epress.am, a representative from UTair's branch in Armenia said that the 49 EUR excludes not only agency fees, but also taxes and fees.

Including all the fees, a one-way Yerevan-Moscow or Moscow-Yerevan ticket can be purchased online today for 61,000 to 73,000 AMD (about 106–126 EUR). This is approximately the same price offered by other airlines servicing this route.

In conversation with Epress.am, several tourism industry people said that such advertising "tricks" are often employed not only in Armenia, but around the world. Usually, airline companies advertise the amount that the airline itself receives — without additional fees, which are included in the price of the ticket tied to airport taxes, agency fees, and other fees.
