Two Opposition Parties Intend to Boycott Parliamentary Speaker Election

The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun, or ARF-D) and Armenian National Congress parliamentary factions intend to boycott the parliamentary speaker elections. This news was conveyed to the media by faction heads Armen Rustamyan and Levon Zurabyan, respectively.

"Our participation [in the vote] is a formality because the outcome is predetermined. Thus, the ARF-D will not be participating in the selection of the National Assembly president," said Rustamyan.

The Rule of Law (OEK) faction left participation in the voting to the discretion of its deputies, said faction representative Hovhannes Margaryan.

Recall, the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) decided to nominate HHK faction head Galust Sahakyan to the position of parliamentary speaker.
