Galust Sahakyan Elected as Parliamentary Speaker

Head of the Republican Party of Armenia faction Galust Sahakyan today was elected National Assembly president with 101 voting in favor and 3 against. Participating in the vote were 106 MPs, with 3 voting for Hrant Bagratyan, while 2 of the ballots were considered invalid. 

"I like to struggle and through struggle I have achieved certain success. I think, reviewing my program, I will turn my attention also to proposals of the other candidates," he said and, expressing thanks, assumed his seat. 

Recall, the Armenian National Congress and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation did not participate in the vote. MPs of other factions could vote at their discretion.
