Damage of This Year’s Frost to Armenian Agriculture Amounts to $29 Million: Newspaper

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Armenia today will make public the extent of the damage to agriculture as a result of the frost that hit Armenia on March 30–31. Local daily Haykakan Zhamanak found that the damage is close to 12 billion drams (about $29 million USD). 

The biggest damage was incurred in the provinces of Armavir and Ararat: 5.8 billion and 4.7 billion AMD, respectively. The extent of damage in Aragatsotn marz (province) was 900 million AMD; in Vayots Dzor, about 200 million AMD; and in Tavush, 88 million AMD. The regional administrations of Syunik and Lori have not yet calculated the financial loss of the crops destroyed by the frost.
