Anastas Mikoyan’s Statue Disappears from Foundry: Press

Soviet leader Anastas Mikoyan's bronze statue has disappeared from the foundry in the Yerevan's Nor Nork district, reports local daily Haykakan Zhamanak.

The newspaper's correspondent yesterday visited the foundry and didn't see the statue there. Foundry employees said the statue was taken from them that same day. As to who took it and where it went, the foundry craftsmen didn't say. 

Neither Yerevan's mayor nor sculptor Gagik Stepanyan, who was entrusted with quality control of the statue, had any information about about the removal of the controversial statue from the foundry.
