Police Confiscated Personal Belongings of Activists Protesting Afrikyan House Demolition

Eleven activists who attempted to occupy the historic Afrikyan (also known as Afrikyanov) house yesterday evening were detained by police and forced to leave their mobile phones, documents, and other personal belongings at the police station. Some of the young activists struggled to convince police officers to return their house keys. This news was conveyed to Epress.am by activist Vahe Grigoryan.

Police informed Epress.am that the activists' personal belongings were confiscated because they were detained on suspicion of violating the law. Police are preparing materials on charges of RA Criminal Code Article 185 (willful destruction or damage of property), though no criminal case has been launched yet.

Note, among those detained are Artak Gevorgyan, Anton Ivchenko, Vahagn Minasyan, Babken Der-Grigorian, Herbert Gevorgyan, Vahagn Grigoryan, Sipan Pashinyan, Dvin Isanyan, Karen Ohanyan, Hrayr Savzyan, and Artur Petrosyan.
