Armenian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yervand Zakharyan (pictured) also is not happy about the increase in the electricity tariff. He said this himself at a press conference in Yerevan today, stating that 105,000 families will receive state assistance to overcome the effects of the price increase.
According to the minister, the actions of the Public Services Regulatory Commission were justified, and unfortunately, it wasn't possible to solve the issue any other way.
Zakharyan also spoke about the Yerevan Thermal Power Plant, noting that construction of the second unit is foreseen, which requires investment.
In addition, the minister mentioned that the overhaul of the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant will begin in 2017, and it will cost $300 million USD.
