The newly appointed head of the Department of Penitentiary Institutions, former Deputy Chief of Police, Artur Osikyan, has avoided revealing the source of a 57 million AMD (140,000 USD) gift from 2011 and the means behind his wife’s acquisition of four real estate in 2013, reported local daily Haykakan Zhamanak.
In response to the paper’s official letter, about Osikyan’s gifts and properties, the Public Relations division of the Department of Penitentiary Institutions said the following, “In accordance to the law, DPI head, Artur Osikyan has submitted his financial statements to senior ranking members of the Ethics Committee, from which you can obtain the necessary information.”
Senior ranking member of the Ethics Committee, Armen Khudaverdyan, spoke to the paper saying, that a government decision has restricted publishing susceptible information, except information that has already been disclosed.
In addition, according to Khudaverdyan, the committee members can not be informed about the means of obtaining property of government officials.
