An administrative investigation has started with the command of Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan to look into the legality of police action against “Pre-Parliament” Movement’s Board member Alec Yenikomshian. The latter was announced to Epress.am by the Police’s public relations and journalism administrative department representative Armen Malkhasyan.” Yesterday, the Pre-Parliament’s released a statement raising the issue of “the Police’s displayed inhumane treatment” against Yenikomshian.
“Alec Yenikomshian and his neighbor Vahan Gabrielyan left from the Pre-Parliament office on Alek Manukyan St. in Gabrielyan's car after the “100th Anniversary Without the Regime” outreach car-rally finished. When they were on their way home, on Sayat Nova St. adjacent to the French Square, a group of people approached their car and presented themselves as employees of the police’s criminal investigation unit. They forcefully pulled Alec Yenikomshian out of the car, while they took his friend and his car into custody. Despite the fact that Alec Yenikomshian repeatedly stated that he was blind, the police workers left him on the busy side of the street, while taking away his friend and car. Some time later, some passersby approached Alec Yenikomshian and took him away from the busy street,” said Pre-parliament’s statement.
In regards to Gabrielyan, there is case material being prepared at the Artashat Investigative Department. Epress.am spoke with the Advisor to Armenian Investigative Comittee Director, Sona Truzyan, who noted that Gabrielyan was taken into custody for an official reason. On the main road of Shahumyan village, Gabrielyan argued with the police officer who had ealier stopped him, then cursed and hit him.
After the incident, Gabrielyan was taken into custody at the Artashat police station, where he wrote a testimony and was released on October 20, at around 2 o’clock in the morning.
