Russia would be happy to see Nagorno-Karabakh part of the Eurasian Economic Union, if it is a part of Armenia. Today, after a session of the Armenian-Russian inter-parliamentary commission at the Armenian National Assembly, the commission co-chair Nikolay Ryzhkov said the latter to journalists.
The question was raised when an Armenian journalists compared Crimea and Nagorno-Karabakh. They observed that Russia is entering the EEU with Crimea, while Armenia is entering without NKR.
Ryzhkov noted that the Crimean people decided to become a part of Russia through their own free will.
“If Karabakh becomes a part of Armenia, then there is no issue. You know the procedure. You can’t enter the union with unresolved territorial and border issues. Once, the Karabakh issue is resolved, we would be happy to see it in the Eurasian Economic Union,” said Ryzhkov.
