The price of Russian gas in Armenia has not decreased since the gas contract signed between the two countries in December 2, 2013, said HAK faction MP, former PM, and economist Hrant Bagratyan. According to the contract, Armenia would be receiving gas at the same price as the Russian domestic price, which is $189 per 1000 cubic meters, however, after the Gazprom-Armenia company’s general service payments the ordinary citizens pay $340 per 1000 cubic meters.
“Today, in Europe (gas) has become cheaper, even after all that happened in Ukraine the government confirmed the price of gas at $333, basically cheaper than in Armenia. It also turns out that with this gas contract signed on December 2, 2013, we have also given our import of liquid petroleum to a Russian firm. Do your job properly, don’t give out the monopolies, what is it, you can’t say ‘no’ to the Russians?” stated Bagratyan.
