Last December’s (2014) trade volume, compared to the same period last year, decreased by more than 13%, wrote the Haykakan Zhamanak daily.
“This is an unprecedented situation. Even compared to the years of the 2008-2009 global economic crisis, if trade volume was not growing, it at least was not decreasing. And therefore, we can consider that this past New Year was the most humbly celebrated by Armenians in Armenia’s history. In other words, this was the most critical New Year. Back last November employers had already felt the situation early on and significantly decreased the imported volumes of their traditional products for New Year's celebrations,” noted the paper.
