The Constitutional Reforms initiated by the ruling authorities may lead to a significant reduction of the number of MPs in the National Assembly, 75, said Republican Party (HHK) faction leader, HHK executive body member Vahram Baghdasaryan when speaking to Haykakan Zhamanak daily.
When the daily’s journalist noted that there was news circulating that the current number of MPs, 131, might be reduced to 121, Baghdasaryan responded; “It’s the first time I’m hearing 121, but wait for the reforms, it may be 75. If the reform goes through, either a certain significant change has to occur or the number has to stay the same.”
He added that personally he would prefer that the number of MPs were few and a professional National Assembly were formed.
