Armenian Soldier Received Fatal Injuries Playing Football: Official

Serviceman of a military unit deployed in the eastern direction of the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army, Artur Arakelyan, 19, died on Thursday, April 9, at the Central clinical military hospital in Stepanakert, where he was transferred to on April 5 with open craniocerebral trauma, and hypovolemic shock, Special Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia reported in an official statement issued on Friday.

The soldier was injured during a game of football in the military unit; Arakelyan hung with his hands from the goalpost, which, subsequently, fell on his head, authorities said.

The RA investigative Committee is gathering materials in connection with the incident.
