We are living in a period full of resistance and struggle where there are outbreaks of protests everywhere in the world and almost every month a country is turned upside down by a mass movement, the Revolutionary Socialist Workers Party (DSİP) of Turkey said in a statement issued on Friday, June 26, in support of the ongoing protests against the rise in electricity prices in Armenia.
“The Armenian people have joined this wave of struggle,” the statement read. “ Like the Middle East capitals, Gezi in Istanbul, the protests in Brazil, the squares in Spain, Occupy Wall Street in America, the yellow umbrella movement in Hong Kong, the demands for free education in Chile, the climate protests in New York, the workers repeatedly striking in Greece, the Armenian people have risen up against their government.
“We salute the people of Armenia who have risen up for freedom, and declare our solidarity and support for the demonstrators filling Freedom Square in Yerevan.”
Additionally, DSİP demands that Turkish state open the border crossings and lift the economic embargo on Armenia.
“We know that for those wanting recognition of the Armenian Genocide in Turkey, the best way to show solidarity with Armenia is to fight for the return of Camp Armenia here, facing the reality of 1915, to bring to justice those responsible for the murder of Hrant Dink and to stop the racists who are threatening to “hunt Armenians”.
“One more time we repeat: We are all Armenian!
“Long live the brotherhood of the people!” DSİP concluded.
