One Armenian Contract Serviceman Dead, One Injured in Road Accident in Tavush

An Armenian contract serviceman was killed and one other injured in a road accident at around 7 pm on Wednesday in Armenia's northeastern Tavush province, the RA Investigative Committee said in a statement.

Babken Sarukhanyan, 50, died as a ZIL-131 water-carrier he was driving fell off a steep cliff on the way to the military unit. Accompanying officer Artak Andreasyan sustained injuries and was taken to the Vanadzor garrison hospital.

A criminal case has been launched in connection with the accident pursuant to part 2 of article 377 of the Armenian Criminal Code (breach of rules of driving or operating vehicles which negligently caused human death), the authorities' statement read.
