Head of Armenian Association of Young Doctors Advocates Anti-Gay Violence, Gets Funding From Promoters of Equality

President of the Armenian Association of Young Doctors, urologist Gevorg Grigoryan is an advocate of anti-gay violence; however, the organisation he is heading continues to get grants and sponsorship from major international organisations and pharma companies which promote equality and do not condone any form of discrimination, as stated by Unzipped: Gay Armenia.

Grigoryan, in particular, used Facebook over the course of the last year to express his intense dislike of homosexuals, calling on Armenian people to “fight fag*ots” and “not let them procreate.”

The doctor, “proud” of his anti-homosexual stance, also made calls for beating, physical violence against gays, as evidenced by Facebook screenshots of his comments: “I will always be one of those who fight against homosexualism [sic]. And I will one day destroy the likes of you – grant seeking animals who take money and defend homosexualists [sic].” [below, in Armenian]

Meanwhile, the blogger behind Unzipped: Gay Armenia writes, the Armenian Association of Young Doctors is to hold a conference on November 6-7, 2015 in Yerevan on “health related quality of life,” sponsored by Bayer Healthcare, Unipharm, Prom-Test Laboratories, Recordati.

“I want to believe that they are not aware of the views of the president of the organisation they are sponsoring. Well, now they know.

“I expect immediate actions from sponsors, and particularly Bayer Healthcare, by distancing themselves from this group, and withdrawing sponsorship,” the author states.

Note, the Ethics Code of Recordati group offers “equal employment opportunities without discriminating on the basis of race, gender, age, sexual orientation, physical or mental handicaps, nationality, faith, politics or trade union membership.”

Bayer Healthcare, in turn, specifically stresses that they will not fund “organisations that discriminate on bases of race, color, creed, gender, sexual orientation or national origin.”
