Armenia's National Security Service refused to disclose on Wednesday the number of those currently under arrest in the case of the "organized criminal group" which was neutralized by the country's law-enforcement authorities late in November, local Haykakan Zhamanak daily reports.
“The preliminary investigation body does not find it appropriate to reveal the number of arrestees at this point in time,” a NSS spokesperson told the paper and urged to wait for the official statement.
“While the NSS refuses to publish a figure, rumors are circulating behind the scenes in political and law enforcement circles that the number of those arrested has reached several dozen. Two days after the [raid], meanwhile, [authorities] had officially announced about only 21 detainees,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
