Xnews.am reporter Paylak Fahradyan alleged on Friday that Mher Sedrakyan, an MP from the parliamentary faction of the ruling Republican Party, insulted journalists during a break in a Friday extraordinary sitting of Armenia's National Assembly by calling them a “herd” upon seeing the group in the NA corridor.
Fahradyan demanded that Sedrakyan not insult reporters as the lawmakers refused to answer their questions and tried to make his way to his office. In response, the MP accused the journalist of lying: “Clean your ears, will you! I said no such thing.”
Sedrakyan then angrily pushed away the microphone and entered his office. After some time he came out and invited Fahradyan to his office, stating he wanted to talk to the reporter tete-a-tete.
“Boy, you are younger than my child; come here, let me tell you a few words,” the lawmaker told Fayradyan, who, however, refused the invitation and said he'd only talk to Sedrakyan in front of cameras.
When the other reporters said they also wanted to be present at the conversation, Fahradyan said he only talked to “normal” journalists and wanted nothing to do with “abnormal” ones.
Details in A1plus.am's video:
Note, this is not the first time the MP insulted a member of the media. In 2012, in conversation with A1+ journalist Mher Arshakyan, he said, "Come on, get out of here! I'll come break your jaw." Later in the same year he threatened to “break the jaw” of a Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper reporter, while in 2014 the parliamentarian cursed and insulted Tert.am reporters.
