Hraparak daily newspaper reports that the latest revelations by Yerevan-based civic activist Verdges Gaspari about his recent experience with custody and the actual situation in Yerevan's Nubarashen penitentiary institution can reflect badly on prison head Ruben Stepanyan.
Stepanyan, who is a relative of National Assembly lawmaker, General Seyran Saroyan, will probably be sacked soon, “and his family ties cannot save him this time,” the daily notes.
Hraparak alleges that the official will be replaced by former Nubarashen head Arsen Afrikyan, a relative of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan, who was forced to resign following an escape of several life convicts.
