Giving Up Turkish Goods Would Be ‘Jingoism’ on Armenia’s Part, Opposition MP Says

Armenian National Congress parliamentary faction member Hrant Bagratyan believes giving up Turkish goods to be "jingoism." During a press conference Friday the MP commented on the latest parliamentary debates on restrictions and bans on Turkish goods, saying that such sanctions would first and foremost have a negative impact at home.

“We don't mean much to the Turkish producer. However, we do indeed feed on the Turkish budget, and giving it up would be the most stupid decision. When the government takes on jingoism, it means that it has nothing to offer and lacks analytical thinking.

“There are goods that can be replaced, of course. But on the whole, Armenia will be the one to suffer, as is the case with Russia, which applied sanction on Turkish goods only to worsen the situation in the country,” Bagratyan said.
