Armenia's national debt continued to grow steadily, standing at US$5.196 billion at the beginning of April, local Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper writes, stressing that Armenia’s national debt increased by $576 million within a year.
The current amount, as reported by the paper, exceeds that of the previous by 12.4%; meanwhile, state budget revenues during the same period declined, totalling at US$500 million (US$517 million the previous year).
“In short, the public debt increased 12.5% [over the previous year], while budget revenues showed a decrease of 3.2%, which indicates that Armenia just gets by due to debts,” Haykakan Zhamanak notes.
