Residents of the villages of Vahramaberd, Marmashen and Kaps in Armenia's Shirak province blocked a main highway leading into their communities on July 5 to demand that representatives of the regional administration come and get familiarized with the extent of the damage caused to their villages by recent hailstorms, Zhoghovurd newspaper reports.
Vahramaberd village head Aghvan Martirosyan later told Armlur.am that the protesters had discussed all the issues with officials from the regional administration and it has been decided that additional three or four hail stations would be installed in the area.
“[Martirosyan] stressed that the village currently has two hail stations both of which operated during the hailstorms,” Zhoghovurd writes, adding that the governor of Shirak was set to meet with the heads and the residents of the villages Wednesday morning.
