Yerevan Man Drives Through Police Cordon to Deliver Food to ‘Daredevils of Sasun’

Early on Tuesday morning, a man drove through the police cordon around the seized Yerevan police station to deliver food the members of the “Daredevils of Sasun” armed group, the official Facebook page of the gunmen said.

“Artur Sargsyan filled his personal car with food and transported it to the liberated territory by breaking through the police cordon. The police opened fire on Artur, but luckily he did not get injured,” the statement read.

Several hours after the reported incident, following the expiration of a deadline given to authorities by supporters of the "Daredevils of Sasun," a group of citizens tried unsuccessfully to deliver food to the gunmen. During a late Monday rally, Founding Parliament key member Alek Yenigomshyan announced that the gunmen had been food deprived for at least 2 days and that in the morning their supporters would bring food to the blocked off street for opposition lawmaker Zaruhi Postanjyan to deliver it to them. Today, however, law enforcement officers turned Postanjyan away, saying that nothing would get past them and to the seized territory.
