Decision to Move Injured Erebuni Gunman to Jail ‘Inhumane,’ Lawyer Says

The Penitentiary Department of Armenia's Ministry of Justice has decided to transfer “Daredevils of Sasun” injured member Sedrak Nazaryan from the Convicts' Hospital to a regular jail, Yervand Varosyan, a lawyer for the arrested gunman, said on Facebook Thursday. The decision, he added, was based on the conclusion of the doctors of the penitentiary service.

“After visiting Sedrak Nazaryan at the Convicts' Hospital, we remain convinced that the conclusion that he should be discharged is unfounded, to say the least. The person is still recovering from a severe gunshot wound [to the chest] and a subsequent surgery, and it's obvious that he should have been kept at a civilian hospital. Instead, however, it's been decided to move him to a regular jail, which is nothing short of inhumane,” the lawyer stated.
