A schoolteacher in her 40s and her two daughters, ages 5 and 7, were found dead on Monday in the town of Spitak in Armenia’s Lori province, a spokesperson for the Spitak mayor’s office told Epress.am.
Marine Hovhannisyan, according to police, died of an apparent suicide; her body was found hanging in her apartment bedroom, with the bodies of her daughters lying on the nearby bed. The woman is believed by investigators to have strangled her children before committing suicide.
According to information available to Epress.am sources, the woman was in a dire financial state and was fighting for spousal support from her former husband.
