The director and the nanny of a kindergarten in Armenia’s town of Alaverdi have been sacked after an unsupervised four-year-old student, Robert Dallakyan, left the kindergarten premises on February 14 and was subsequently found drowned in the nearby Debed river, Armtimes.com reports.
Speaking to Armtimes, Alaverdi deputy mayor Artur Varosyan said the director has filed his own dismissal application, while the nanny has been fired by the management. According to the deputy mayor, the kindergarten has been temporarily closed down because parents are “too shocked” to send their children there. The kindergarten, Varosyan added, will most likely resume its work sometime next week, after a new nanny and an incumbent director are appointed.
Armenia’s Investigative Committee, for its part, has issued a statement, saying that the investigative department of Lori province “is taking all necessary measures to establish the circumstances of the child’s death.”
