An Armenian soldier was killed and two others were wounded Wednesday after a bulldozer belonging to one of the military units of Armenia’s defense ministry rolled into a gorge when cleaning the road leading to the unit’s combat positions.
According to an official statement issued by the country’s Investigative Committee on Thursday, contract servicemen Garegin Minasyan, Armen Pukhan, and Vruyr Nersisyan suffered physical injuries of various degrees as a result of the accident. Vruyr Nersisyan, officials said, subsequently died on the way to the garrison military hospital in Gegharkunik province. The other two soldiers have later been taken to the defense ministry’s central clinical military hospital.
A criminal case has been launched under article 377.2 of Armenia’s criminal code – violation of rules for driving or operating combat, special or transportation vehicles, which negligently caused human death.
